Very cool

We loved our new house from the first minute we saw it, even though there were some well-worn parts, and even though we knew the upstairs part of the house would become impossibly hot in the summer.

And so when (another) (well-worn) component in our heating/cooling system broke last week, we decided that because we love our new house as we spend a lot of time in it, we would not just replace the old system, but upgrade it so that in winter the downstairs would be warm enough (previously it wasn't) and in summer that upstairs would be cool enough (previously it wasn't).

The cost of such a decision? not cool.

The timing of this event? Providentially, just after we got a tax rebate big enough to pay for it. Not what we wanted to spend it on, but we had it. Very, very cool.

The planning for this event? To take place today while the kids and I were out for the day. Cool.

What actually happened: Teg got sick and we stayed home. Not cool.

But the serendipitous outcome of Teg's illness: we were home when the GIANT crane parked outside out house and lifted the old HVAC of four roof and lowered a new one down. Callum just about passed out with excitement .. Extremely, awesomely cool.

And tonight? We have delicious, QUIET, energy efficient air conditioning both upstairs and downstairs our new home that we love. And it is very, very cool.

This summer, coolth is not just going to be a word, it's a reality!!!

Cool!!! (Literally and figuratively) I'd love to see the look on Callum's face when the crane appeared, and lowered the HVAC. Such a lovely, adorable boy. =)

Glad to see that you enjoyed the bike tour in SA. I had been wondering how it all went. Wish that I could join you on your biking excursions, but alas, trekking up to Sac from East Bay is no small feat for an amateur. I shall stick to hiking instead.
