Bugs

Callum got a tummy bug, and he gave it to his sister.

And so it was that, after six days of jeremy being away at a conference in d.c., he returned home just before midnight on Wednesday, and within an hour of his arrival the first kid started throwing up. Welcome home honey, and happy 9th anniversary while we're at it :-)

So lots of laundry and not a lot of sleep and definitely no wedding anniversary celebrations.... But, despite the bug, i want to write down for the record the many good things that come from these 48 hours of illness.

Daddy was home, just when we needed him.
My kids were snuggly and sweet. They sat quietly on my lap for hours on end, stroking my hand and telling me they loved me. Melt.
They were too poorly to fight, shout or whine. We watched movies and cuddled. It was peaceful.
Teg asked us to pray for her, again and again, every time she felt yucky, Teg doesn't pray in front of us or talk about her prayer concerns, and so it blessed me that she wanted to pray, and trusted that God would help.
They took naps. By themselves. In fact, I kept losing Callum... And would find him asleep under a pile of pillows, or as the photo below shows, naked and under a pile of folded linens:-)
I did almost no meal prep and consequently, no dishes, for two days. An unexpected but definitely noticeable upside to having kids who won't eat.

And now the bug is gone, and the laundry is done, and I get think back on two days of quiet and snuggly sweetness of kissing my babies heads and holding their little hands when all they had energy for was clinging to their mama. And I LOVED IT.
