How it all went....
Three months ago I posted about my great anxiety about needing to prepare talks for a women's retreat and also prepare for the big bike ride in South Africa. Since I've been AWOL in the blogosphere for a few weeks, I thought I'd write a quite update, with thanks to God for His wonderful provision, and with thanks to those who prayed and cheered and helped along the way.
Te women's retreat was wonderful! I learned so much, laughed so much, cried often in the preparation, and by the time the weekend came I was bursting at the seams to share what I had learned. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. The gospel is so wonderful and I still cannot believe that I get the privilege of being the bearer of such precious and joy-giving, life-giving good news when I teach. Wonderful.
And then South Africa! Another post is deserved here, but let me just mention now how the cycling part of it went: WONDERFULLY! how fun to ride with my sisters and 36000 other happy crazy cyclists along 109kms of the most beautiful parts of Gods green earth. We took the ride very slowly, and it was the FUNNEST six hours of exercise I have ever done in my life. Actually easy, since our pace was so slow and my fear of the race had made me train hard!
And once it was over, we did a dance of joy, and I began to wonder "when can we do this again???" ... And the wondering led to planning which led to purchasing which has now led to wandering... On my first road bike, purchased last week and broken in on a 63mile (99km) ride in Chico, Northern California this past weekend. How fun to have a new hobby!!! I LOVE IT! What an unexpected joy.
So, if anyone wants to go for a little bike ride sometime.... Let me know!
Final pic: Birds of a feather... My sisters and brother in law and I ready for the argus cycle tour, with majestic table mountain in the background!
