Good things

There have definitely been a couple of hours in the past week which have been frustrating: most especially when Tegwyn has one of her inexplicable must-be-carried and whines-all-the-time sessions. Apparently that comes with the 18-21 month territory. But apart from that, it has been a week filled with good things. This may not be an insightful or funny post, but I thought it would be good to take a moment to count my blessings and share them.

1. Teg is sleeping a regular 11 to 11 1/2 hours a night. Which means waking up after 7am every day. Wow. Wow. Wow. Love it.

2. Her vocabulary is exploding! Recently heard:
  • "told (cold). mommy. blow." We tried to explain that you only need to blow on hot things, but she kept blowing and blowing to try and make the food the right temperature to eat...
  • "biaper (diaper) off. bum wiggle wiggle."
  • "whoa! big!"
  • "piggies: big toe. litta toe. one step. two step. tickle tickle!!!" (I think she's got this little piggy and round and round the garden mixed up)
  • "lemuh (lemon)? teg teg eat!"
  • "doggy! two! (two doggies!) fwend! (friends?) Mommy! Hand! (take my hand and follow me) Tum!! (come) Look!"
It's delightful.

3. Our vegetable garden is blooming! We have 16 heads of corn standing about 10-15cm high after just 2 weeks, 6 respectably sized summer squash bushes, 8 garden bean stalks, a cascade of arugula shoots... yay!

4. I think I can feel the baby move... 16 weeks (so it's on the early side), but there's something going bump in the night in my belly!

5. We got to see friends from Cape Town in San Francisco for dinner. yay! a night out, and Teg went to sleep with the baby sitter with no hassles at all!

6. I booked tickets for Teg and I to go and see the Pearsons in New Jersey in September. Double, triple yay! Princeton in the Fall. Sigh. Should be fabulous.

Over and out for now. It feels good to count blessings.

I'm really glad that Teg has started sleeping in a bit. Those early morings seemed brutal.
