The pair at the door

Last week I had an encounter that just about broke my heart.

It was around dinner-time and the pots were boiling, counters were cluttered, kids were clamoring. You know, the regular 6pm drill. A knock on the door announced the arrival of two fresh-faced Mormon missionaries. (Aside: The older I get the stranger it seems to greet these youngsters as they ask to be called: "Elder Smith" and "Elder Mason", but anyway....)

So there were two Mormons at the door, wanting to chat.  Keep reading here....

Love. This. Post. One of my closest friends growing up was Mormon. Kindest hearted friend I have, and she served a difficult mission overseas. I would hope she encountered the love you showed those boys!

This is AWESOME. So many of them are so lonely and they don't get a lot of love; they get lots of opposition, and no matter that you're "doing it for God," it's hard not to take it personally after 2 years and feel like you're broken or just not lovable.

I went on a "missions trip" to Manti, Utah, for the Mormon Pageant with the purpose of making friends for a week and getting out of our comfort zones. I made four friends, all broken-hearted girls who had troubles just like me, and were told every day that it was their own fault they didn't seem to measure up. Sometimes it's so easy to forget that we're all human, but no matter where you go in the world, we all have hearts of the same mettle.
