A perfect last day of pregnancy
So I think today is my last ever day of being pregnant (unless God has a COMPLETE surprise in store for us)... and although this is two weeks more pregnant than I had planned or hoped to be - today was a pretty perfect last-day-of-being-pregnant.
The weather was perfect, sunny without being hot. The children were well-rested and cheerful. I slept well the night before, and could walk easily and without pain all day. I got to go to my bible study small group end-of-the-year social, and discovered it had been themed as a baby shower for me - wonderful! I ate cake. Sod the diabetes. Tomorrow is show time anyway. My friend Crystal made me a wreath of flowers which made me feel like a fairy princess and the quintessential fertile earth mother all at the same time. And it smelled GORGEOUS.
Look at my lovely small group!
And LOOK AT THE SIZE OF MY BELLY!
One of the gifts from the shower was a gift card with an instruction to use it to treat myself, not the baby. I needed no encouragement. While the children (yes! that's plural!) took a nap, I got my hair cut and had a pedicure. You can call me happy feet.
I came home and the kids were still sleeping, so I read some more of the Hunger Games book, listened to my hypnobirth CD (and as always, fell asleep in the middle). Woke up, snuggled and read stories with my kiddos, and enjoyed the splendour of the garden. My eldest read the whole of Dr Seuss' "hop on pop" to me and her brother. I didn't know she could do that. She amazes me.
Then Jeremy came home, and since a kind friend had provided dinner, no food prep was necessary so we took off on an impromptu trip to the park: kids and daddy all riding their bikes.
So happy!
And then best of all, just minutes before dinner, the Davis Airporter pulled up and my Mom arrived! I never dreamed she would be here for the birth of this baby, but here she is.
So tomorrow morning we will 'let the water out of the tub' for little, and encourage this baby to make its appearance. Next blog post will announce Little Lea #5!
God is so good. All the time. I am so amazed and thankful at how he worked this incredibly long pregnancy out for good, and I am SO EXCITED to meet this little one tomorrow :-)
