Fun moments
Sometimes I know, with shrill and awful clarity, why they call the 'terrible twos' the 'terrible twos'. But for the most part, I LOVE two. And I love 5 months too. What sweet ages they are! Every day brings some new discovery or insight which makes me laugh. On our way home today we passed a freight train which had a lot of graffiti on the side. Teg's comment: "can you see the paint on the train, mama? (and then, with a hint of bragging in her voice) WE don't paint on trains. WE paint on paper!"
I wonder if she'd think that if she actually had a train on which to paint?
Anyway, here are some sweet snippets from the past few weeks... This is one for the kid-pic-hungry blog readers out there. If you are one of the more-serious-musings-readers, I apologise. 'Twixt the two colds and the urgent demands of swim season... not much serious thinking is being done here :-)
C's big sister demands a lot of attention when she's awake... so when she's asleep, C gets special mommy and daddy time. He saves his very best chuckles for games of "catch the nose". Daddy's turn first.

Mommy's turn. With Mommy, the game morphs into "eat the hair".

When Teg wakes up though - everyone gets to snuggle.

Callum can now sit unsupported, which has opened up all sorts of new play possibilities. One of his favourites is piano-time...

Summer = Chalk Art. This next one may not seem like much, but I was ridiculously impressed by this art which Teg quietly explained as she drew. The light blue circular type thing (not the bright blue to the left or the red to the right)... is an elephant. It has a trunk (to the right), and two "footses" (at the bottom), and my favorite part - note at the end of each of the two footses the "toe" and the "uh-one (other one) toe".

Playing outside in the mornings before it gets too hot (note the sun creeping towards us in the top left corner!)

July 4th meant T's first experience of sparklers (declared "fun!") and fireworks (declared "too loud!")

We decided to do something cultured on the long weekend and so we took a family expedition for frozen yogurt. SO yummy.

and then, of course, there's the pool. Here, after a fantastic swim, are my children and the Gibson's children relaxing. Note T with the two gibson girls on the left. The lump of diaper and chubby baby legs on the right is C.

And what, you might wonder, is Callum doing?

He PASSED OUT! While changing his diaper he started to suck his thumb... and by the time I was done he was asleep. In the sun, the heat, amidst the noise.... AMAZING kid. Here's a final close up of that sweet, sleeping face....
