Bad news and a cute grin

My plane for Australia leaves in 56 hours... but I have no passport and no visa. Both are sitting on the desk of some official in Washington D.C., and the prospects do not look good to get it back before I leave... Barring some miraculous intervention to expedite the process, the trip looks like it will need to be cancelled. Cancellation fees are better than forfeiting the ticket, but it is disappointing nonetheless :-( Watch this space.

On the comforting front though: our daughter is smiling more and more! She seems to have gone through a growth spurt this past week which makes her hungry - so it's been 'up every 3 hours' through the night again for me (just when she'd been sleeping for 6 hours at night last week and I was getting hopeful!) - so I'm tired, but when she coos and smiles it's easier to keep going :-)
