Growth spurt

Pip and I went for a check up last week - so for those wondering how things are going, here's the "official update". I am doing well: comfortable, not sick, gaining steady weight (5lbs in 4 weeks!), with excellent blood pressure (92/56, for those who count numbers) and no complaints at all...

Pip is now nearly 17 weeks old, and about 5 inches (12.5cm) long from crown to rump. (The picture on the left is not Pip, but gives an idea of what s/he might look like). From weeks 16-19, Pip will double in size and weight from 4 1/2 inches to over 9 inches! His/her heart rate is 144 beats per minute - strong, rapid pumps, interspersed with many little kicks and somersaults. Doc says I should be able to feel those kicks fairly soon...

The next big milestone is 20 weeks: the official half-way mark! At 20 weeks they do the "big ultrasound" where they will possibly be able to tell whether our seedling Pip is a boy Pip a-la-Great Expectations, or a girl Pippa! Anyone want to place their bets?
