It's not what you know...

... it's DEFINITELY who you know.

Last summer we spent over a month with it being 85F+ (30C +) in our apartment... even at 4am, and even if we'd run the a/c all day.

We put in numerous maintenance requests, and each time they came and stuck a meat thermometer into the a/c and declared "it works just fine".

Well, that's great... if it were possible to live INSIDE the a/c. Our appeals fell on deaf ears. I was beginning to dread the coming summer, especially since:
a) Our attempt last weekend to install a ceiling fan to at least try and alleviate the heat was futile: the ceiling is too unstable, and too angled, to support a fan.
b) I will be more whale-like and immobile with each growing month of this pregnancy!

But this week our smart neighbors, who suffered worse fates than us last summer, "went to the top" and finally got a response from upper management: a new a/c! Within 24 hours of an "I want one too" e-mail from us, we are getting one too. Perhaps we can aim for a 80F summer, after all! Yay!!!
