Duck Duck Goose
My eldest's latest craze is playing "Duck Duck Goose". (Wikipedia explains how here). It's meant to be played with a bunch of kids, but with one or two adults, one preschooler and one toddler, it turns into sheer mayhem. I only acquiesce to the requests when a) there is no life-threatening debris on the floor for us to trip over 2) none of us is on the verge of exhaustion or tears or else it gets too much, and (due to number 2), 3) if Daddy is home. Mommy can only do so much.
Yesterday Teg asked (again): Can we play Duck Duck Goose?
Me: No, not now.
Teg: Can I watch a show?
Me: No, not now. We can read or do a puzzle or play another game.
Teg: Can we play Monster Monster Firetruck?
Me (feeling encouraged by the creative play arising from my 3 year old): That sounds great! I love new games! How do you play monster monster firetruck?
Teg: Well, first we all sit in a circle, and then one person goes around and taps the others on the head and says monster monster. And then when they say FIRETRUCK you get up and run...
Hey, wait a minute......
Ladies and Gentlemen, there's a lawyer in the house, and it isn't me.
