Definitions

Maternal tourettes: When you've been talking exclusively to your kids for so long that when you finally get out the house and take them to the pool and a fresh-faced lifeguard hands you a life-jacket, you say "thank you, love" out of habit.

Culture shock: When, despite both her parents being from the country of SOUTH Africa, our 3-year old follows the cultural norm of her country of birth and insists on talking about "when she was in Africa".

Wishful thinking: When, two and a half hours into your son's usually-two-hour-nap, you decide now would be a good time to try and take a nap yourself.
