Holding Back The Chaos
It's a little after lunch time.
I have been awake for 8 hours and during that time have fed, changed and napped my daughter, done 3 loads of laundry, gone for a long walk, gone to the travel agent to sort out insurance, tidied the kitchen, and made a new batch of fresh granola muesli. And yet strangely, I feel like I haven't accomplished much today. How is it that domestic chores can keep one so busy, and yet yield relatively little feeling of productivity or satisfaction? Maybe because it's not creative, and there is little to no end-product to the labour. Keeping house takes a lot of energy, and yet you have nothing to show for it (except clean-ness, which doesn't really satisfy because the whole point of cleaning is to have 'nothing left showing'). Keeping house is more like 'Holding Back The Chaos'; trying to keep the entropic creep of disorgnization, clutter, dust etc at bay.
Maybe that's why blogging is so attractive right now. This little paragraph means I have something to show for today :-)

One load of laundry is a big accomplishment with a little one in tow. If I get that done in one day... I'm feeling pretty good about my accomplishments. :) Of course, I probably didn't feel like that at first... but I totally do now!
