out of control...
This week is arguably the busiest year on our calendar: welcome week! The week of daily events on campus, thousands of new faces, much publicity, much prayer, much follow-up. Campus is full of nervous new faces: some holding their maps upside down and trying to figure out where to go next, others walking determinedly along talking on their cellphones so as not to be alone...
In the midst of this, here we sit: me and 2 interns and a group of great student leaders - wanting so badly to make an impact for Christ on this campus. And so we plan events, put up posters and stop to talk to some of those new-can't-read-a-map people... And we pray. Pray that God will use our small and seemingly silly efforts to somehow do the "big work" of helping people to mature spiritually and get to know Him better. There seems to be such a big disconnect between our handing out of flyers, and the end goal which is that people would know God better...
It's exciting work, but it's scary too to be so out of control. We work so hard, yet we can't bring results. Reading 1 Corinthians 1-4 this morning was encouraging... "some plant, some water, but it is God who gives the growth..."
Pray for us, please. Pray that we would be faithful in our part, and trust God for His.
