Things I'm savouring #2

Why is it that waiting (for anything: a job, a person, a change in circumstance, news) is so exhausting? And how does one reconcile that with God's promise in Isaiah 43 that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength? My experience of waiting most often means a depletion, rather than a renewal, of stength.

Beth Moore's brilliant insight in her new study on Esther is this: Our strength will be renewed if we wait on the LORD, not if we wait on the THING (or person, or event). Wow. What a difference this makes in this time of waiting for our future to unfold with the where/how/what of jobs and places to live. If I spend each day just waiting for Jeremy to take the next step in the job search process, or to hear back from someone about some possibility, I will most certainly feel the crunch. But if I can remind myself that God will bring the right opportunities in His perfect time..... oh what a difference that makes.

And now, just one gratuitous, gorgeous pookie pic:

oh bron, I love it. a truth to savor indeed. it's like hope ... hoping FOR (things, people, change, etc.) disappoints, but hoping IN our Lord will never disappoint.
