Banks and Boeings...
Aarggh!! I could write a script on how my conversations with banks and british airways always seem to go:
Me: Hi... I would like to do x
Bank/British Airways: No, you can't
Me: But I have paid for this, and that, and your website says this, and that... so how could I make it work?
B/BA: Sorry... there's a fleisughefsd (imaginary word) problem with the blrusipe, and your account has wperiuwq problems, so no, you can't
Me: OK. So you're saying I can't do x, or y, but what about z?
B/BA: (Some random excuse about how South Africa is "classified" differently: therefore it isn't possible to trust our banks/airports etc, so now extra security is required...)
Me: OK, So I realize what I can't do. Could you perhaps tell me what I CAN do? What are my options here?
B/BA: None. You are a loser. But let me give you the number of another one of our departments who will not be able to help you either. (A loose paraphrase, but you get the gist of it).
"Ooo-o, I'm an alien. I'm a legal alien. I'm an Englishman in New York" (not quite, but the tune always comes to mind)...

I know what you mean....
I've tried to register Janel's birth with SA home office. Decided to do it IN Cape Town (while we were home in March) to avoid hassles. Except they lost the paperwork and only told us 6 months later...
Now have to do it via High Commission in London - you can only get the form online, but there's no link to download it; you can only book an appointment to hand in your form online, except there's no link to do it; you can't speak to anyone because you only get an automated message that doesn't allow you to leave messages; you can't go in person to get form/ book an appointment because they won't let you in the building.
So I ask you, HOW am I supposed to register my child? OH! And it has to be done before next Thursday because then she turns one....
