A cold turkey FEAST!

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

Although not in that order. Yesterday was the 'worst of times' as I decided to try and wean my kiddo off her pacifier/dummy so that she could learn to sleep without it... (the ultimate goal being that she will be able to sleep better by herself and not have to wait for us to find her pacifier to be able to sleep). But I couldn't for the life of me think what "weaning" from a pacifier would look like. So we quit cold turkey. For 3 naps, my sweet daughter cried and moaned plaintively... but the crying time got shorter and shorter each time (45 mins for the first nap, 20 mins for the 3rd).

So we decided to try the night "dummy-less"... and lo and behold - SHE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! Apart from a "dream-feeding" (in her sleep) at 10:30pm, my champion kiddo slept from 6pm until 7am the following morning - with no night waking and no crying. AMAZING!

My deepest thanks (and begrudging respect) to those who loving encouraged a short-term "cry-it-out" to teach our kiddo a great skill: learning to go to sleep herself.

Shot Bronwyn! We've also done the crying thing (to wean Joanna off being rocked to sleep) - it was tough but so worth it. What a champion baby! Hope she keeps it up. Love kate
